Peru // Cusco: The Imperial City
/We flew from NJ to Lima directly and opted to spend our first evening in a not-so-touristy suburb of Lima given we were catching an early morning flight to Cusco. I will spare you the gritty details but let's just say that our journey from the airport to the hotel included views of isolated roadside fires and deserted neighborhoods. During this time some (read: one) of us was praying for the safety of their organs... you know who you are.
Turns out like most things the neighborhood we were in was perfectly fine in the daylight. We stayed at the Limper B&B which was clean, cheap and much closer to the airport than heading to Miraflores. Plus, given the alternative of sleeping across several benches at the airport, this was well worth the one and half minutes of mental angst and many internal discussions as to why I always think it's so much more important to research places to eat than places to sleep and how I need to be better about prioritizing. I wondered what I would do sans Liam Neeson in Taken who wouldn't be there to say things like, "I don't know who you are but I will find you and I will kill you." In any case, we survived.
